Bush Boyhood Home Museum

-Blinky Freeman, VV staff Texologist

The remodeled Bush Boyhood Home Museum was recently remodeled to accurately reflect how it had been while the Bushes occupied it during the President's childhood. The remodel cost appx' US$1.8 million, but was paid for by FEMA, having sustained damage during Katrina. Speaking at the dedication ceremony, Barbara Bush Sr. wanted it clear that they "actually lived here, not in the Kennebunkport cabin," (shown below). The Midland trailer wasn't just a formality for Texas residency, required for George Sr. to run for political office there, it was the Bush's official home of record. The ex-First Lady went on to explain how it was that the Bush children attended New England prep-schools, saying, "Never you mind that the kids went to schools back up near 'Kenny-Bunker,' this was our official home, here in Texas. We were poor cowboys. Real folk. Why are you troubling my beautiful mind with all these questions? Go away now, I'm tired."
